For Yuletide, you can nominate up to 3 fandoms and up to 4 characters in each fandom. See what you can nominate at the admin LJ or DW.

Nominations will run from the 12th to the 21st of September. Nominations will be approved after that, and the full tag set will be visible around 7 October.

Before tags are approved, you can only see your own nominations. So that you can make strategic use of your slots, we’ve set up a google form and spreadsheet for sharing information.

This form and spreadsheet allow you to

-enter what you’re planning to nominate
-edit your choices if you change your mind
-enter a wishlist of things you hope other people will nominate
-look at other people’s choices
-look at other people’s wishlists
-confirm your choices when you’ve submitted them on AO3

-and (NEW!) indicate whether your nominations are approved, rejected, or something else. This feature is now live. If you've submitted the form already, edit it and tick the new questions under Nominations. If you haven't, it will come up as part of a new form.

You can fill out the form anonymously, or you can enter a name/code/identifier to mark which choices are yours. You can enter an email address, so that your response and a link to keep editing are automatically sent to you, or you can enter a fake email address and save the edit link at the end.

Hi all!

This is a post I've been meaning to make for a few years now. Every year we have great challenges and collections, such as Misses Clause (promoting fics that pass the Bechdel Test) and collections for characters of color. However, the posts for those come during sign-ups, when people only have the tagset to work from. If nobody nominated any women or characters of color for your favorite small fandom, you're out of luck.

Look over your own nominations in these next three days. Look at the spreadsheet and the nomiations post on DW and LJ. Are these the characters you want to make requests for, write for, or both? Did you have a free slot and are you nominating them after looking at the requests tab on the spreadsheet? Are you already coordinating with a friend, or friends, to cover a big cast list?

Consider coordinating with fellow fans using the nomiantions posts and spreadsheet in these final days. Who is your cast list comprised of for your fandom? Are there women, are there characters of color, are there characters with disabilites? If someone who likes this fandom wants to participate in Misses Clause, will they be able to? If someone who likes this fandom wants to participate in a chromatic challenge, will they be able to? (Obviously not all fandoms can do this, some fandoms only comprise of a few characters at all, sometimes no one can find someone else to help with nominations. I mean this in general terms.)

I know every year only about 1/3rd of people nominating end up using the nominations coordination posts and spreadsheets. This year, why don't some of us help each other out to make the tagset more inclusive?

Edit: tl;dr: If you want to nominate more characters from a fandom, it's best to coordinate with fellow fans on the nominations pages I've linked above. If you don't want to, you don't have to.

I have been hoping someone would put up a pretty spreadsheet like in the past, but since that hasn't happened I have made a clunky one. Comment with your noms and desires here with any explanatory commentary, and then you can edit the spreadsheet over here.

It's almost Yuletide nomination time, so here is the Dreamwidth nomination trading post! I am not a mod, but am again helping out with spreadsheets, along with

desert_vixen (whose post I am copying here). The LiveJournal trading post is also up, and keep in mind that Dreamwidth users can comment on LJ. Feel free to comment on one or both, but mention if you're duplicating your comment!

This year, we can each nominate up to 3 fandoms, and 4 characters per fandom.

To get the most out of our nominations, it helps to coordinate. By sharing information, we can avoid several people all nominating the same fandom if they don't have to, ensure that one fandom's fans can cover all the characters they want, and generally maximise the things we want to see in the tag set.

This is NOT a required part of Yuletide, so keep in mind that just because it's not listed here does not mean that someone is not thinking about nominating it. Last year, the nominations trading post represented about 1/3 of actual Yuletide nominations.

Please comment on this post with the fandoms and characters you are definitely nominating. If you're not sure about some of your slots, you can also list things you are strongly considering, as well as the things you hope other people will nominate for you. This is especially useful for fandoms that benefit from a larger group of characters.

If you aren't sure about any of your choices yet, don't comment here yet - head over to this year's brainstorming post (or on LJ).
