Friending Meme?
(Mods: please do delete this/let me know if you want me to change anything if I've breached any rules)
Given the current combination of lots to talk about (i.e. Yuletide!) and lots of people wandering around wondering what to do with themselves over in Dreamwidth, it seemed an ideal opportunity to squee about Yuletide happiness and make some new friends/add some new subscriptions at the same time. Killing two birds with one stone, and all that. Soooo... in comments, feel free to answer as many of the following questions as you like:
1. Your name - however you wish to interpret that.
2. Your journal
3. Did you receive anything in this year's Yuletide? Link?
4. Did you write anything in this year's Yuletide? DO NOT LINK! Or give it away in any other manner, obv.
5. Have you made a recs post? Link?
6. If not, are there any stories you'd particularly like to share?
7. Favourite Yuletide fandom(s)?
8. Favourite fandoms that are Too Big For Yuletide?
9. What do you hope somebody's going to write for NYR?
10. What do you do during the rest of the year? (after all, there are nine other months to fill...)
11. Anything else you'd like to mention? (Anything! Anything at all! BEARS!)
12. Anything people should know about your journal? (e.g. content warning, or your thoughts on subscribing etiquette)
Then, go ahead and talk to people!

Then, go ahead and talk to people!

I'll start!
2. Your journal -
3. Did you receive anything in this year's Yuletide? Link? - Yes! I received The Owl and the Cuckoo, a gorgeous piece focusing on the women of Love's Labour's Lost
4. Did you write anything in this year's Yuletide? DO NOT LINK! Or give it away in any other manner, obv. - I did. I wrote a main story and a treat.
5. Have you made a recs post? Link? - Not so far - I'm waiting until the reveal, as there's a story I really want to rec, but if I do it will be a bit of a giveaway that I wrote the only other story in that fandom.
6. If not, are there any stories you'd particularly like to share? - I can highly recommend Bagthorpes vs. Zombies, which wasn't my gift but might as well have been, because I did request the Bagthorpe Saga, and this story is absolutely fantastic. In character, and with zombies.
7. Favourite Yuletide fandom(s)? - Mostly it's favourite books, mainly from my childhood. Yuletide always throws up some fantastic stuff in Swallows and Amazons, and Lord Peter Wimsey, to name two.
8. Favourite fandoms that are Too Big For Yuletide? - Doctor Who. All of it.
9. What do you hope somebody's going to write for NYR? - I saw a fantastic prompt for Tipping the Velvet, centred on Florence Banner. I don't think I could write it myself, because of all the research, but I really hope somebody does.
10. What do you do during the rest of the year? (after all, there are nine other months to fill...) - Read, walk, sing, sew...
11. Anything else you'd like to mention? (Anything! Anything at all! BEARS!) - um...
12. Anything people should know about your journal? (e.g. content warning, or your thoughts on subscribing etiquette) - I'm quite happy for people to just wander over and subscribe. I may or may not grant access, but you're not missing much if I don't. Depending on my mood, I go through phases of commenting a lot, and then not commenting at all, but I almost always keep reading.

9. What do you hope somebody's going to write for NYR? Hainish Cycle! 1 was filled for Yuletide, so there are 4 requests to go!

12. Anything people should know about your journal? Subscribe at will! My journal is 100% fannish, mostly book fandoms. I'll take a peek back and likely sub if your journal is fannish and we have over-lapping fandoms. I presently intend that my journal will be entirely public going forward, so I likely won't bother with access unless/until I start to flock.

2. Your journal:
3. Did you receive anything in this year's Yuletide? Link?: I received three wonderful stories! Seriously, I'm pleased with them, so pleased.
The Lord of Joiry (Jirel of Joiry)
Smile (The Playboy Club)
Relieved (Cairo Time)
(FWIW, people browsing for stories, I think the first two can be read without prior canon knowledge~! The third, I think it helps to know who the characters are, so go watch Cairo Time--it has Patricia Clarkson and Alexander Siddig, you won't be sorry--and come back to it.)
4. Did you write anything in this year's Yuletide? DO NOT LINK! Or give it away in any other manner, obv: I wrote two stories, which I'm pretty pleased with.
5. Have you made a recs post? Link? I don't tend to make recs posts, because I'm not particularly fond of the way they end up clogging the LJ comm and don't want to add to that. Maybe I'll do one in a month or something, though, because there are some stories I think are just wonderful.
6. If not, are there any stories you'd particularly like to share? I'd have to go back through my history and look.
7. Favourite Yuletide fandom(s)? I like seeing new fic for Little Women! And for old Hollywood films (actually, I started writing a theoretical request for It's a Wonderful Life fic for next year...), and things like that. I don't care as much for the viral video type fandoms.
8. Favourite fandoms that are Too Big For Yuletide? What people call Yuletide, I call Sunday--my fandoms tend to be very small in general. I guess Homestuck, but I'm not actually that into the actualfax Homestuck, just the opportunity to write stories about the Dolorosa and the Signless.
9. What do you hope somebody's going to write for NYR? My DS9 request for ancient Bajorans exploring space, because I'ms selfish. Honestly, I don't really hope for NYR stuff, because the stories that get written seem to be far less likely to be of interest to me. IDK, I think it's the smaller pool of stories.
10. What do you do during the rest of the year? (after all, there are nine other months to fill...) I write other stories and work full-time and sit around on my butt watching TV.
11. Anything else you'd like to mention? (Anything! Anything at all! BEARS!) :D?
12. Anything people should know about your journal? (e.g. content warning, or your thoughts on subscribing etiquette) I've been bad at using it lately, but I'm trying to improve that. I also have a tumblr, where I am twohandedengine.

3. Did you receive anything in this year's Yuletide? Link? I did! A wonderful Warehouse 13 fic!
4. Did you write anything in this year's Yuletide? I did! I wrote, um. 22 pinch hits, 9 other stories, my original assignment. And a partridge in a pear tree.
5. Have you made a recs post? Link? My recs! So far, anyway.
6. If not, are there any stories you'd particularly like to share?
7. Favourite Yuletide fandom(s)? .... I can't think of one right now.
8. Favourite fandoms that are Too Big For Yuletide? Babylon 5! I think it's still TBFY.
9. What do you hope somebody's going to write for NYR? Something beautiful and interesting. I have no idea, really.
10. What do you do during the rest of the year? (after all, there are nine other months to fill...) Write. ;) Study languages, play guitar, sometimes play pennywhistle, dance around my living room, cook. Work my day job.
11. Anything else you'd like to mention? (Anything! Anything at all! BEARS!) How I can write the way/as fast as I do
12. Anything people should know about your journal? (e.g. content warning, or your thoughts on subscribing etiquette) I'm very, very lax about friending/unfriending. I subscribe to journals I think I might want to read, and I leave mine pretty well open so people can read me if they decide they want to. Friend or unfriend at your leisure!

Your journal: Here at DW, as migrated from LiveJournal.
Did you receive anything in this year's Yuletide?
Dreamweaver's Lament Post-canon to a series of excellent fantasy novels from the 1980s by Tom Deitz, beginning with Windmaster's Bane. Even if you haven't read these, you may enjoy the story.
Did you write anything in this year's Yuletide?
Indeed I did, right over...oh, wait, not yet. (One story.)
Have you made a recs post?
Right here: fandoms include Batman Beyond/Blue BeetleJustice League/JLU, Muppet Show/Alton Brown, Anne McCaffrey's "Ship" series (specifically The Ship Who Searched, cowritten with Mercedes Lackey, Trixie Belden/Castle, Valdemar (Lackey/Tangled, and Young Wizards/Justice League/JLU. (Yes, there are a bunch of crossovers in there....)
Favorite Yuletide fandom(s)? Oy. Lots of them. There's always good work in Duane's Young Wizards universe, and the Muppet Show fics are excellent this year. Also I've written Wizard of Oz stories twice (one has just been reprinted in Oziana). This by no means exhausts the list, but it's a start.
Favorite fandoms that are Too Big For Yuletide?
Kim Possible lured me into writing fanfic; Castle's kept me there. And the classics, of course: Buffy, Who, Stargate (SG:1, mostly), Star Trek (TOS/TNG, mostly).
What do you hope somebody's going to write for NYR?
I figure it's best to wait and be surprised.
What do you do during the rest of the year?
Read, write, work, play cards (not for money), family time.
Anything else you'd like to mention? (Anything! Anything at all! BEARS!)
"Especially the bears, Mr. Spock." (Twenty bonus points for anyone who recognizes the source of that quote....)
Anything people should know about your journal?
It's mostly a fanfic journal, and thus quiet a lot of the time (especially when I forget to update). I'm an open friending zone; feel free to board the ride at any time, and I will probably friend back. (If I don't, it's a matter of benign inattention, not editorial judgment.)

2. Your journal:
3. Have you made a recs post? Link? Yes! At my journal.
4. Favourite Yuletide fandom(s)? None, really; I just like the opportunity to read in new tiny fandoms that I never would have thought to seek out!
5. Favourite fandoms that are Too Big For Yuletide? X-Men (movieverse), Inception, Harry Potter
6. What do you hope somebody's going to write for NYR? I'd love something for Spider Lilies or The Bubble
7. What do you do during the rest of the year? (after all, there are nine other months to fill...) I write meta, make fanmixes, read fic, go to school, write music, work out, and hang out with friends :)
8. Anything else you'd like to mention? (Anything! Anything at all! BEARS!) Not at this time!
BEARS9. Anything people should know about your journal? (e.g. content warning, or your thoughts on subscribing etiquette) Feel free to subscribe/grant access/what have you. If there's sufficient info in your profile and/or journal for me to know who you are, I'll almost certainly reciprocate :)

11. Anything else you'd like to mention? I'm kind of lonely over here on DW... *sniff*
12. Anything people should know about your journal? Just that all are welcome! :)

3. Did you receive anything in this year's Yuletide? Link? Put it with the other ducks, a Super Dictionary fic (go read! No prior canon knowledge necessary! Has pictures!) and Luke: Forever Young, a Ghost Soup Infidel Blue fic which makes me insanely happy (GSIB has my vote for "weirdest YT fandom of all time," but explaining why would take an essay or two in itself).
4. Did you write anything in this year's Yuletide? DO NOT LINK! Or give it away in any other manner, obv. 4 stories into the main archive, 1 for Madness.
5. Have you made a recs post? Link? Two: 5 fics that you don't need canon to appreciate and Only a couple of minutes?, 12 Madness ficlets of under 500 words
6. If not, are there any stories you'd particularly like to share? Not done reccing; compiling more lists; very fond of both Pizza is a Vegetable (Daria) and Blackadder's Fifth Column (Blackadder) which both address the Occupy movement.
7. Favourite Yuletide fandom(s)? WTF? No, what I love about Yuletide is ALL THE FANDOMS too many to choose from. I especially love the song fandoms and the single-youtube-vid fandoms.
8. Favourite fandoms that are Too Big For Yuletide? Batverse DCU comics; Harry Potter; White Collar; PotC; Trek (Original & Reboot).
9. What do you hope somebody's going to write for NYR? Haven't thought that far ahead. Still busy reading all the fic.
10. What do you do during the rest of the year? (after all, there are nine other months to fill...) I write about Paganism, document conversion, copyright legalities, and the new erotica publishing house I'm working for. Also, I have a day job.
11. Anything else you'd like to mention? (Anything! Anything at all! BEARS!) I love beta work. I hang out in Yulechat to say "OF COURSE I WILL BETA YOUR 5000 WORDS ABOUT SOME BOARD GAME WHICH I'VE NEVER HEARD OF!"
12. Anything people should know about your journal? (e.g. content warning, or your thoughts on subscribing etiquette) About half my journal's contents are under lock; this includes anything detailed about my job or family, and anything I don't want to discuss with strangers. Anything public is fair game for linking, quoting or commenting. (Preferably, not whole-contents quoting, unless it's short enough that that's the only reasonable way to deal with it.) I welcome random comments from total strangers. I get snarky at vicious anonymous comments, and/or may keep them screened. Polite anon comments are fine.

4. Did you write anything in this year's Yuletide? yes
5. Have you made a recs post? No, but the more I stumble on more experimental pieces, I may make a recs list.

7. Favourite Yuletide fandom(s)? Community, Burn Notice, Disney Princesses, Luther
8. Favourite fandoms that are Too Big For Yuletide? Doctor Who (at least all the TV canon), Torchwood (same), Leverage

10. What do you do during the rest of the year? bingo challenges and gift exchanges
11. Anything else you'd like to mention? I like a lot of movies.
