YT18 Nominations Coordination

For Yuletide, you can nominate up to 3 fandoms and up to 4 characters in each fandom. See what you can nominate at the admin LJ or DW.

Nominations will run from the 12th to the 21st of September. Nominations will be approved after that, and the full tag set will be visible around 7 October.

Before tags are approved, you can only see your own nominations. So that you can make strategic use of your slots, we’ve set up a google form and spreadsheet for sharing information.

This form and spreadsheet allow you to

-enter what you’re planning to nominate
-edit your choices if you change your mind
-enter a wishlist of things you hope other people will nominate
-look at other people’s choices
-look at other people’s wishlists
-confirm your choices when you’ve submitted them on AO3

-and (NEW!) indicate whether your nominations are approved, rejected, or something else. This feature is now live. If you've submitted the form already, edit it and tick the new questions under Nominations. If you haven't, it will come up as part of a new form.

You can fill out the form anonymously, or you can enter a name/code/identifier to mark which choices are yours. You can enter an email address, so that your response and a link to keep editing are automatically sent to you, or you can enter a fake email address and save the edit link at the end.

Consider also posting your nominations and confirmations in the comments - more people may be able to see them.

This is not your official nomination. It is optional. Your choices will only be included in this year’s Yuletide if you added them to the Yuletide 2018 tag set.

This one's a long shot, because it's evidence-required-land, but if someone has a spare slot, I'd totally do the legwork to try for the inclusion of Small Gods - Terry Pratchett as sufficiently detached from the ---

Fandom: Small Gods - Terry Pratchett

Possible issue with the fandom: This is a book within the larger Discworld universe, which is too big for yuletide. (Taken directly from the approved 2017 request for Monstrous Regiment - https://yuletide-admin.dreamwidth.org/29373.html?thread=167613#cmt167613)

Evidence for why this fandom should be considered eligible: Discworld is a large universe containing many distinct sets of storylines and characters. While there are broad sub-series, like the Watch and Wizards and Witches and Moist arcs, Small Gods is very much a standalone book. It can be read entirely independent of the rest of Discworld with no loss of reader comprehension.

It is set in a physical location that is not Ankh Morpork, the primary location of the majority of the series. It does not contain any of the major characters in AO3's broader, ineligible Discworld tag: Sam Vimes, Havelock Vetinari, Death, Sybil Ramkin &c. Cameos by series-recurring characters are limited, short, and mostly exist to provide colour to the main story.

Would you like to nominate this for me? This is totally a good evidence post that I'm writin', and that's cuttin' me own throat.

Eligible AO3 fics with the main character Brutha (6); other major characters - Vorbis, Om, etc - all have similar or lower counts.

Though if the mods have followup questions on said evidence post, you're going to be better placed to answer them than I am, so if you'd rather I'll delete my copypasta and let you replace it - just give me the word.
