We're in ur yuletide, queering ur canons.

There are many ways of queering texts and characters. This challenge is for any and all of them! The widest possible definition of queering is used here. If you think your prompt counts, then do so we. Check the first comment for an example of queering a text; everyone is welcome to add on more examples there, too.

Note: in fics that overlap with TransTide, both simonlorden and I encourage you to tag both.

Fandom 1: Billy Elliot
Any specific fandom details, preferences, comments, etc: he queer themes are strong in this canon, but actual queer characters are only implied. You can change that! I love future fic, gay or bi Billy, gay or trans femme Michael, gay or bi Debbie, and hell, what did Mrs. Wilkinson get up to when she was studying ballet?! (This is the second fandom on my letter)

Fandom 2: Mansfield Park
Any specific fandom details, preferences, comments, etc: The ending of this novel is depressing as hell. (Spoilers?) Fanny winds up with her cousin, the only man who was ever even slightly nice to her. That seems like the kind of thing a sad and confused lesbian would do to me. I ship Fanny and Mary Crawford, since Mary is the only one who seems to pay any attention to Fanny for half the novel. Also, she's a mean girl, and there's a lot of room for reformation there. I'm also open to one or both of them being trans. I love an AU or canon divergence for this fandom. (This is the fifth fandom on my letter)

You are welcome to queer my other four fandoms: Princess Diaries (Movies), Legally Blonde (Musical), Will Darling Adventures, and Hadestown. I do ship m/f couples in Princess Diaries, Legally Blonde, and Hadestown, but feel free to make people trans or bi or play with minor characters. The Will Darling Adventures is pretty gay already, so you might just enjoy that, even if you're not going to need to DIY the queerness.
