I don't really have any specific ideas here; I just love the movie. Poor, suffering, cocky, talented Tom, and Nathan saving the day without ever leaving the building. Ship, gen, mission!fic, a little more twisted manipulation, Nathan playing CIA politics, Tom tracking down Nathan's birthday, a post-movie meeting, finding out what happens either one of them afterwards...whatever appeals to you.

My general likes and dislikes are all in my Yuletide letter, but generally, I like canon divergence stories but not complete AUs, I'm fine with all canon pairings, and I don't mind character death but don't particularly like character mutilation.

I love the complication relationship between the brothers, the dichotomy of antagonism and affection, Michael's bitterness and Jamie's avoidance, and the way Michael keeps seeking Jamie out. The "brother, when it comes to you, the heart tends toward mercy and the soul leans toward love" line kills me every. damn. Time!

Anything shippy (from UST to porn) would make my day. (DNWs: AUs, hopeless endings, death and terminal illness of requested characters, violet rape (dub-con is great, though), genderswap, mpreg, jewelry, daddy kink, unaroused or traumatised victim in dubcon scenarios, unrequested sexuality and identity headcanons)

Whistle Down the Wind - Lloyd Webber/Steinman/Knop & Lloyd Webber & Edwards - Swallow, The Man

That almost!kiss where Swallow was leaning in and he pressed a kiss to her forehead instead still haunts me! 🥺 I love how he's simultaneously using her and feeling intensely protective of her.

I would be thrilled to get some Swallow/The Man future fic that reunites them when she's older and has lost that wide-eyed innocence but not her compassion and her capacity for love and forgiveness. Maybe he's looking for shelter again, or maybe he's the one who gets to save her for a change, or both. And maybe there's some lingering resentment over how much he mislead her back when he was hiding in her father's barn, but also all of the old affection (and attraction) returning full-force.

I'm a bit more fond of an earlier (pre-marriage/very early marriage) setting, but regardless I'd enjoy seeing a little snippet of an adventure and/or some hurt/comfort (especially with both hurt).
• Not If I Save You First - Ally Carter [any] - I'd enjoy seeing further adventures post-canon as Maddie adapts to DC (or ends up back in Alaska for some reason); what happens to Stefan afterwards and/or perhaps he needs further assistance from Maddie and/or Logan; or an AU where things don't wrap up quite as nicely and all three of them (maybe with Maddie's dad there too) end up still stuck in the Alaska wilderness (and maybe on the run from the Wolf and his men). Or just some hurt/comfort, set during canon or during some other adventure.
• Classical Music RPF [Frédéric Chopin] - Random prompts: being picky about which pianos he uses (especially Pleyel); the fact that he only wrote for piano is rather unusual—did he get into arguments with people trying to get him to branch out? were his few non-solo-piano works the result of a compromise here?; modern AU where he's still a pianist & composer
• Tomorrowland (2015) [Athena + Frank Walker + Casey Newton] - I love the dynamic between the three of them as well as between each two-person subset. I'd enjoy post-canon everyone-lives fic, or a missing scene from their earth adventures/AU where they take longer to make it to Tomorrowland.
• White Christmas (1954) [Judy Haynes + Phil Davis] - I requested this several Yuletides ago & was *this close* to requesting it again this year. I love these two so much (Danny Kaye is one of my favorite actors of all time) and I wish we saw more of Judy's & Phil's own romance and not just Betty & Bob.
• Chess Pieces (Anthropomorphic) [Pawn + Queen] - Does the pawn look up to & respect the queen, or do they think they're too full of themselves when they used to be a pawn and/or when the pawn knows they might become a queen someday?
• River and Stone (Playing Cards) [Worldbuilding] - I backed the Kickstarter for this but didn't notice it in the tagset till just now! These cards are so gorgeous and I love the description of "the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with a touch of added magic". I love how the person for each suit shares a color scheme with the terrain & animal cards; does she share a magical affinity with them as well?

Fandoms with requests (but not for these specific characters):

• Lord Peter Wimsey - Dorothy L. Sayers [Harriet Vane + Charles Parker] - So this is a bit of a theme for me (as you can probably see if you look through the prompts below), but I enjoy seeing friendships between people who each have a closer connection with a third person (Peter as Parker's BIL & fellow crime-solver, and as Harriet's spouse and guy-who's-in-love-with-her before that), but when that third person is not present. What is Parker's & Harriet's relationship like as in-laws? What happens if they get involved in a mystery when Peter is not immediately involved (although he might get called in later)?
• Persuasion - Jane Austen [Anne Elliot + Admiral Croft] - I enjoyed the cheerful friendliness between them, particularly on their walk together when the Admiral tells Anne about the letter from Frederick (about Louisa's engagement), and I'd enjoy seeing their first interaction after the Admiral is informed of Anne's & Frederick's engagement (had he seen it coming or is he quite surprised?), or their continuing friendship as in-laws later on.
• The Scarlet Pimpernel Series - Baroness Orczy [Marguerite Blakeney + Andrew Ffoulkes] - I've requested these two in the past; I'd enjoy seeing them working together on a rescue while Percy is busy elsewhere—or have people think they're having an affair when they were doing nothing of the sort, but it's hard to prove the truth when they can't explain that they're really just members of the League of the SP.
• American First Ladies RPF [Edith Roosevelt] - the first First Lady to have staff; might be interesting to see her planning an event (working with social secretary Belle Hagner), or a glimpse of her complicated relationship with step-daughter Alice (whose wedding was one of the biggest social events while they were in the White House), or dealing with the shock of becoming First Lady in the first place.
• Casablanca (1942) [Ilsa Lund] - She's doing her best in the midst of a war and some tough situations. What is her life like outside of her relationships with Rick & Victor? What does she end up doing after the war? What was her childhood like? Also, I love her costumes, especially her hats & the scarf she wears over her hair (I actually dressed up as her for Halloween once but nobody guessed who I was...); I'd enjoy anything that focused on her sartorial choices, maybe just shopping for or sewing a new dress. (Which isn't necessarily all that easy in the midst of a war.)
• National Treasure (Movies) [Abigail Chase + Riley Poole] - More friendship (like Wimsey, Pimpernel, & to a lesser extent Persuasion above) between people whose closest connection is with a third person! I'd enjoy seeing them working on a project (Riley using his computer skills to help Abigail with research? Whatever's on page 47?) or in the midst of another adventure where they're pursuing one lead while Ben goes after another, or becoming better friends while dealing with some portion of the no-doubt-drawn-out legal aftermath of the first movie. If the second movie is involved, I'd prefer if you downplay or ignore Ben and Abigail's relationship troubles as I didn't enjoy that plot point.
• Fiber Arts Anthropomorphic [Spinning + Knitting] - Perhaps the most tightly-connected fiber arts in my own life; do they have a strong friendship, or is Spinning jealous with Knitting uses store-bought yarn, and does Knitting get frustrated when Spinning creates a yarn just for the fun of it and then has no idea what to make with it afterwards?

The Hunt for Red October (1990)
Admiral Greer is an interesting fellow. What was his time in the Navy like? How did he go from there to the CIA? Did he do more of his career on ships, or most of it doing intelligence? How does he relate to his fellow officers now he's a spook? He and Marko have been on the opposite sides of the Cold War, what's their perspective on each other? Both serve imperial powers that don't like/trust their ethnic group (Ramius as a Lithuanian/not Russian, Greer as a Black man) how is that similar and different?

Sense8 (TV)
HOLY COW DO I WANT WORLDBUILDING. Also, I want to know what happens next. And I'm curious for both the immediate lives of the cluster (I love them all), but also for the larger world of sensate clusters. Do they start building their own culture, now that it's safer? What scars have been left by the corporate exploitation and murder? What continuing steps are needed to get rid of the lingering influence of BPO? Does the larger world ever learn about sensates, and what happens to the cluster then? Of the cluster, my favorites are Kala, Nomi and Amanita, and Capheus. Will and Riley are the ones I find least interesting. I don't dislike them, I'm just not excited about them.

The Martian (2015)
Vincent Kapoor
Vincent is, in a lot of ways, the hinge around which the plot turns. He's the one herding cats at NASA and coordinating everything. In an organization full of really bright people, he's the one who puts things together. I would love just about anything with him.

Backstory: how'd he get interested in NASA and what path did he take to get there? Did he have any interesting projects before getting to work on ARES III? His parents come from two very different religious traditions, so what (if any) of that has he made his own? (Also, in the book his name is Venkat, not Vincent--is Venkat what his family calls him?)

During the mission: What's going on at home while he's giving all his hours to the project? Does he have a family/wife/partner? What are some of the things about the mission and coordinating everything that we *didn't* see? What are his relationships like with his coworkers? What are his relationships like with the Ares III crew? How often does he have to do media stuff and does he like it or hate it?

After the mission: what's next for him? Where does he go from there? Does he get promoted, and if so, to what? Does he work on Ares IV, and is it a nice, quiet, meticulously-planned operation with no major unforseen issues, or is there another problem?

Still Star Crossed
I love this show and want to know WHAT HAPPENED NEXT. I love the slow burn enemies to lovers of Rosaline and Benvolio. I would be happy with either them together and married, or not married but friends-for-life. I am interested in: stuff that explores Rosaline's reaction to how the Prince has treated her by ordering this. Stuff that explores Rosaline's religious vocation--I'd like it to be something she genuinely wants, not just her escape from needing to marry. I'd love stuff that explores how fucked up both their families are and gives them the chance to heal together and build a better future for themselves.

Hobson's Choice
Maggie Hobson Mossop, Will Mossop. Pretty much anything with Maggie being smart and determined and Will being caring and growing. What was it that caught Maggie's eye about Will? What was it Will saw in Maggie that he came to care for her? Because in the first half he's just kind of shell-shocked and along for the ride, but by the second half there's a lot of mutual love and respect there, and I'd love to see it grow. Or give me a day-in-the-life about their little shop in the basement, or what they're doing twenty years after the movie ends.

I love this movie, and I love everyone in it except Mr. Hobson and his cronies. Charles Laughton may have been the "star" of the show but it's not about him, not at all. It's about Maggie and her choices, and her figuring out what she wants in life and how to get it. Her father may be the ostensible star, but he's the obstacle to the plot, not the one moving it along. Also, if possible, period accuracy is much appreciated. Like, notice how Maggie works within the social structures, instead of trying to tear them down while shouting "death to patriarchy!" I mean, I could see her as a suffragette ... but a 19th century suffragette is a very different beast from a second or third wave feminist, you know?

My Fair Lady
Eliza Doolittle, Henry Higgins, Colonel Pickering, Mrs. Higgins
I really don't like the pairing canon tries to push on us. I think Eliza and Higgins make great friends, but any kind of romantic or marital relationship between them would be horrible for all concerned. But I love all of the characters as individuals and I love the banter when they're together. So! Ideas, take as much or as little of them as you like, mix and match, whatever. Eliza starts up a business, either a flower shop or a phonetics tutor (if teaching phonetics, bonus points if she uses the "Hungarian Princess" mystique and totally pwns Zoltan Karpathy), while Higgins and Pickering are "confirmed bachelors" together (wink, wink) and Eliza and Mrs. Higgins commiserate. Eliza marries Freddy, because he's a good person despite being brainless, and she likes being adored, and he's good with the kids and she uses his social cachet to keep her business and the whole family afloat, and when his brainlessness gets too much they go and have dinner with the Professor/Mrs. Higgins/Colonel Pickering. Or what about Eliza, Higgins, and Pickering settling down together in a poly relationship, either as a romance or just committed good friends, while Mrs. Higgins sighs because they're happy but it's terribly scandalous, and if any of her friends (or the Bishop!) found out, egads. Or Eliza marries the Colonel because they're good friends and she respects him, and when they're no longer dealing with the training every day and Higgins is a visitor instead of their host and Eliza has a woman friend in Mrs. Higgins, they actually are quite happy and content together. Or Eliza stays with Mrs. Higgins for a while as she's getting on her feet (possibly starting a business?) and Colonel Pickering keeps coming by to smooth things over and ask Eliza back, and he and Mrs. Higgins get together and pair up while the Professor is loudly aghast and Eliza thinks it's awesome. Whatever you choose, banter and humor is the key to this (though I do have an embarrassment squick, so laughing with=good, laughing at=bad).

It's been years since I've read any of the George Bernard Shaw play that this is based on, but definitely, go with the Shaw-esque witty banter. If you marry any of the characters off, it doesn't have to be romantic--these people are from an era and classes where romance and love are not the primary reasons for marriage. For the rich it's about alliance and preserving the family name/money/honor, and for the poor it's about needing to pool resources to survive, but in both cases love is a benefit not the main goal. Even Eliza, who objects to being sold on the marriage market, would probably think differently if it wasn't just "beauty and perceived classiness being exchanged for money," but rather a mutual exchange and partnership. I can see all of these characters (except Freddy) deciding that friendship and a permanent alliance are what they really want in life, and taking steps to achieve it. I don't think that Eliza and Professor Higgins could manage to live together without her killing him unless a) Pickering is there all the time for a buffer or b) Professor Higgins grows up and realizes that he can't get his own way all the time and starts to genuinely respect Eliza. As of the end of the movie, he's beginning to respect her (but it's still a new and fragile thing) and he assumes that having her back means that everything is going to go back to the way it was before. If you want to do the Eliza/Higgins thing with no Pickering, that's okay, but you're going to have to work to make me believe that Higgins can man up and change.

Black Lightning
I love the whole Pierce family. There's others I enjoy, but they're it for me in this fandom. You could focus on any of them: stuff at work or school (how do you balance academics and being a SUPERHERO?) You could deal with the legal and/or political ramifications of the show (and oh, boy, howdy are there a lot of them, both personal and familial and educational and....). You could explore the different ways the three powered ones feel about their powers. You could do a mission. You could focus on the love lives of any of the characters. You could do future missions cleaning up the city's corruption. You could do a really satisfying thing where the good guys win and the major problems get fixed and everyone is happy. You could do a family game night! DNW: please nothing too dark and nothing where the bad guys win.

What I love about this show is that everybody feels like real people, not the cartoonish thing you sometimes get with superheroes (much as I love them). And their family is a good family, which (despite its secrets) is supportive and loving and there for each other. And the sisters give each other grief like real siblings do. And everybody is an intelligent, thoughtful person, so that plots don't depend on people being idiots.

Details: I'd love anything post-canon for Lucy where she's cured, or isn't killed. What does her life look like after the events of the movie? Details: I'm interested in Eleanor/Henry and Eleanor/Richard (or Eleanor & Richard). Really fascinated by the dysfunctional relationships as presented in the movie. There's no love lost between Eleanor and Henry but they seem to have had affection for each other once upon a time; an expansion/exploration of their relationship as depicted in the movie would be lovely. Eleanor and Richard are intriguing too, with a deeply dysfunctional, almost symbiotic bond (with some unsettling, vaguely incestuous vibes)... Did either of them ever long for more, or actually go too far? Eleanor resented Alais, Richard's betrothed, but was it because Henry took Alais as his lover or because Richard was meant to marry her?

Men in Black (Movies) -

Details: There's a wealth of opportunities for H and M, post-canon! What happens next?! Do they reunite? What if H changes his mind about heading the London branch of MIB and goes with M instead? I adore H and M as both a romantic and platonic duo.

Details: I'm a sucker for post-canon, post-highschool fic for Ben/Devi where they're both attending Princeton, they've entered the job field, or their paths diverged after college. Maybe their big plans didn't work out and they've ended up in places neither expected, but still find their way back to each other. I'm also a big fan of accidentally dating/didn't realize we were dating, pining, miscommunication (within reason), fake dating. Not a fan of marriage-and-babies-ever-after. I'd also love Devi & Kamala & Nalini, Devi & Nalini, and Devi & Kamala with a focus on family bonding. And I'd love Ben & Nalini bonding too. There are some similarities there, between them and their upbringings; maybe they bond over it (would love if their relationship occurs independently of whether or not Ben and Devi get together/get back together).

Details: It seems like their personalities might clash like oil and water, but Stroman and McCann really seemed to get on well. Publicly, at least, Stroman comes off as this fiery, energetic personality while McCann seems more conservative and restrained; how did they end up becoming close? Did they find common ground somewhere? Does Stroman just really like how McCann calls his pitches? Happy with platonic or romantic, and fine with mentions/background inclusion of RL family (like McCann's wife and children).

I cut it this year, but I'd be interested in fic spinning off from recent developments focused on the Woman in Black.

So! The Woman in Black's name is Mulberry, Thorn's her dad, and it's looking like Leif and Kale are her other dads. And that Leif, specifically, contributed genetic material, because her ears are pointy. How was her childhood? Does she have any siblings? (We know she has half-siblings, assuming Thorn still goes with Tansy's offer of eggs.) What was she like as a kid? How did she come to become a Time Agent? What's her surname? (Probably Estragon; Kale and Leif's are... complicated, and who knows if Leif's will be less complicated in, what, 30 years?)
