Yuletide Writing Meetups 2018

I'm in Boston, and I'm organizing a weekly/every-other-weekly writing meetup. Currently looking at alternating-ish Saturdays and Sundays in Porter Square and downtown (see below for more info).

Last year, meeting in a coffee/food-type place in Porter Square on Sunday afternoons (~1 or 2pm-ish) worked well for many of us. I know that there are Boston/South Shore-type folks who found Somerville a trek, so please let me know if you know a good location in downtown/etc, so we can alternate between the two. I don't know downtown very well, so I need some help here :)

Please let me know if you'd prefer a non-weekend time, and if you'd be willing to organize those, since I'm not available most weekdays (including weekday evenings).

Please also let me know about any accessibility needs (mobility, public transit, financial, sensory, etc).

I'm intrigued by Boston-area options.

(I am, however, not a person anyone should plan on having at any particular event unless it's confirmed on my calendar. Chronic health stuff that limits how much out of the stuff I can manage outside necessities like work.)

Porter's very easy for me, downtown Boston would be more complex but not impossible for me (Red Line adjacent is easier for me than other options.) I have a regular thing roughly every other Saturday until 2pm.

If anyone is located such that Arlington is easier for them (or possibly Watertown), I'd also be interested in talking about something weeknight in either location.

always down for Boston meet-ups, and I'll probably try to organize some downtown on weeknights in November. I'm planning on being at the Porter Sq Panera on 10/7 and 10/21 if anybody wants to work on ToT or get a head start on their letters! there's lots of space there and free wifi.

Sure, though I moved even further north so going too far south would be a pain. I'm down for weekends and around the week of Thanksgiving.

Ann Arbor Michigan

We've been having occasional meetups in Ann Arbor since Yuletide 2016. Currently, four of us meet at my house (I can't drive), but if someone new wants to come, we could move to somewhere else. There are some coffee shops and a Panera within an easy bus ride for me. I can get to downtown, north campus, or central campus pretty easily.

Right now, we're trying to pick a weekend date for October. We aim for once a month, but during Yuletide season, I'd be happy to organize more than one write-in a month. I just find that they work better for me with at least three of us there.

So, I've never actually done Yuletide but I'd really like to try this year? And maybe having some in-person meetings would be cool. I'd consider organizing, though I am reliant on public transit/the kindness of others.

Is anyone in/near London interested? There are a few central London coffee shops that have worked well for Nanowrimo write-ins - the Pret at Oxford Circus is big enough that it always has free tables downstairs, for example.

Any other Yuletiders in this area? I'm kind of limited to the downtown/university area - basically, if it's a fifteen-minute or less walk from a Route 10 stop. There's a couple Starbuckses on campus, and the public library and Fire Creek Coffee downtown.

Theoretically, yes, depending on scheduling. I'm in the East Village, so Manhattan and Brooklyn are both ok -- but I teach in NJ, so it's definitely down to time.

*waves* There are at least 2 of us in central Manchester, one a first-timer & friend of mine who has almost as many mobility problems as I do but whom I'm sure would like to try a meet, & there's a railway station 2 minutes from my apartment on the Hope Valley line, so I could likely host, if that's any help? I wouldn't mind popping out to Sheffield sometime, but the hills are a bit hard on my chair.

Any ideas on good places to meet? We could do some things in both the city proper and set something up for those in the suburbs who don't want to make the trip downtown.

I’m in Chicago and would be interested! I don’t have a car so city proper is better for me vs suburbs, but anywhere on public transportation should be ok.
