Chromatic Yuletide 2023
Chromatic Yuletide is a collection post for Yuletide requests that include characters of color. Posting here doesn't obligate you to do anything, but it helps writers find your requests and treat you.
Posting requirements:
Your request centers around at least one character of color.
(I acknowledge there are some shortcomings with the "person of color" descriptor. I'm also not going to police who is or isn't a character of color; please just use your best judgment.)
What you must include:
Your AO3 name
Whatever fandoms & characters of color you're requesting
What you should probably include:
Links to your letter or copy/pasted requests
A brief description of your canon or a link to a canon promo, if you think it's unfamiliar to most people & you want to boost interest in it
If you write for one of these requests, you can tag your fic with Chromatic Yuletide so people can easily find it.

Fandom: Tintin
Character: Tchang Tchong-Jen. Tchang is an orphaned Chinese boy Tintin meets and befriends during "The Blue Lotus". I know many people in the Tintin-fandom like the pairing Tintin/Haddock and the relationship between Tintin & captain Haddock. But Tintin's relationship with Tchang is also very deep-felt and important: First of all, Tchang is based on a real Chinese man, Zhang Chongren, whom Hergé befriended while working on that story (Tchang's name is a different spelling/transcription of Zhang Chongren). Second: It's very clear, when reading The Blue Lotus, that Tintin and Tchang grow very close during that adventure. They are both completely dissolved in tears when Tintin leaves for Europe at the end. Tchang means so much to Tintin that he later, in Tintin in Tibet, decides to go on a rescue mission to find Tchang after a plane crash in the Himalayas - with only a dream that Tchang is still alive to support that mission. In the following story, The Castafiore Emerald, Tintin receives a letter from Tchang. As an eagle-eyed fan on Tumblr once noted, it's an awful big sheet of paper if all he wrote to Tintin is that all is well and please send your regards to the captain. ;) (As that is what Tintin tells Haddock is in the letter).
So, yeah, exploration of Tchang, their relationship (gen or ship, all is welcome)...and, sadly, the challenges/prejudice they probably/likely/might have faced in 1930's-50's Europe.
