What is TransTide?

Since trans headcanons and the portrayal of trans characters can be personal for many people, writers might be nervous to write trans headcanons without invitation. This mini challenge is for people to signal that they would love to receive trans headcanons, as well as to showcase their requested fandoms with canon trans characters.

Note that this exchange is open to nonbinary characters as well.

How do I participate?

• Leave a comment on this post linking your letter and/or listing your requested fandoms and characters if you 1) requested canonical trans characters, 2) are happy to receive a gift where your writer headcanons one or several of the characters as trans.
• Feel free to add any likes and DNWs.
• Make sure to include your ao3 name!
• If you post a fic for Yuletide with one or more trans characters, tag it with TransTide so people can find it easily.

I'll have to do some more thinking about preferences, but, broadly positive, and I'd prefer people just taking things easy and chilling out about them, and being the way they are. But if the situation doesn't quite lend itself to that canonically, I don't mind a bit of issuefic, so long as it's the folk around the trans or enby person(s) who do the "coming of age", with no detransitioning or second thoughts about who they are or want to be. My general likes, prompts and DNWs are all in my linked letter. ♥

I thoroughly enjoy the way White plays with tropes around masculinity in characters like O'Mara, and Prilicla isn't human, so perhaps you could take a jaunt into deconstructing the gender identities of either or both of these characters in their plot contexts by exploring the chance of either being trans and/or non-binary. I'd love to see it!

Notes:
One of my prompts in this fandom relates to the possibility of one or more of Elisaveta's children being enby or trans, and how she adjusts to the idea that they might be. I didn't nominate them, but from a parental viewpoint with a parent like her, the situation might be intriguing. Even more so if it turns out to be José, who's attending the eponymous girls' boarding school.
