Greetings, everyone! Yuletide contains multitudes, and a chunk of those multitudes would really like to request worldbuilding. Thus, here is a sub-challenge post for those of us who love worldbuilding, either on the giving or receiving end. This year, we even got to nominate Worldbuilding as a character tag! Exciting!

Worldbuilding likes: Anything and everything that digs into a fictional world is catnip to me, whether it's through exploring the effects of elements introduced in canon on the daily lives of people (either canon characters or OCs), in-universe documents etc., or just loving detailed descriptions of the history of X region, the social implications of Y existing, or how Z technology works.

Chess - Rice/Ulvaeus/Andersson
This is a close-to-real-world canon, but I am definitely open to explorations about the way it differs from our world (does the course of the Cold War change because of canon events? Freddie is very clearly a Bobby Fischer expy but does he take over Bobby Fischer's role in the history of chess more generally, or are they rivals, probably each claiming to have come up with various ideas? etc.)

I'm not sure whether things for this would strictly count as "Worldbuilding" but the sort of bad-history-explanations that the canon itself is made of definitely strike me as worldbuilding-adjacent, at least?
