Fandom Brainstorming for Yuletide 2012!
I know there's a fandom brainstorming post up on the yuletide com, but I figure that there's no harm to set up a post for people who prefer commenting on dreamwidth. So what are the three fandoms you're going to nominate for this year?
My list of nomination fandom candidate:
Sengoku Basara: a fighting game/anime franchize with a playful spin on Japan Sengoku period and runs on Rule of Cool. My introduction post here.
The Ultimates (comics): I'm very excited about the coming event, with Miles, the Hispanic Spiderman, Kitty Pryde and Steve Rogers as the coming Big Three of the universe. The comics has realistic characterization of flawed superheroes who still saves the world. It also has a female basass normal Secretary of Defence.
枯葉之蝶| Love story (music video, lyric and translation): It has Dragon! This 's a short music video which cries for more world building.
大唐红颜赋 | Tang Dynasty Girl Poem (music video, lyric and translation): Awesome women! A great chance to write women being awesome, in Space, perhaps?
Young Allies: A very well done 6-issues superhero comics with Nomad, a girl out of her time and Anya, the Spidergirl kickass while being adorable together.
Necessary Hunger by Nina Revoyr: A novel set in 1980's with lesbian girl basketball players. And a lot of pining.

I'm planning to nominate Grrl Power. Sidney Scoville needs fanfic.
Haven't decided on a third. Possibilities include The Last Unicorn, Alphas, Sing My Name, Bloom County, Hot Child in the City (song), Guardians of the Flame series, and Grateful Dead RPF.
I'll probably come up with something else at the last minute.

Georgette Heyer-The Black Moth
Georgette Heyer-Regency Buck
Forgotten Realms-Songs and Swords series (If I dare. I'm almost sure Forgotten Realms isn't eligible and the series won't count.)

Right now my tentative three are:
Discworld (Moist von Lipwig, Adora Belle Dearheart)
Romeo and Juliet (Mercutio, Tybalt)
The Newsroom (Neal, Kaylee)
But I also might want St. Trinian's, or Vorkosigan Saga, or Bring It On, or or or... there are just too many awesome small fandoms to choose from! My issue with my current three is that I'm 99% sure someone else will nominate the fandoms (the first two especially), but not so sure that they'll include the particular characters that I want, so I'll probably end up nominating them myself just to be on the safe side.

But some are.
For instance, the books about Drizzt Do Urden are not, but the trilogy that Salvatore wrote about the marvelous (and epic) misadventures of Jarlaxle and his muse (it's canon!) Artemis Entreri, are.

And ah, yes, Entreri and Jarlaxle. I used to be very fond of those two as well ... but for some reason it's Elaith and Danilo that still hang around in my head after all these years. Are you interested in those as well? If we still get to nominate four characters per fandom I still have one slot free.

Definitely nominating them and have been asked to add Arilyn, but I don't want to waste the fourth slot. Thinking about just throwing in Kehelben or Tincheron, but I'm not planning to request either ...

If I were nominating characters, I'd look at Elaith and Danilo and Arilyn for sure; Khelben would make sense as a fourth (it strikes me that one could do a lot with Khelben and Danilo, and possibly Khelben and Elaith as well). I am more likely to write this than request it, but I would/will be delighted to see it nominated.

That would have been Reclamation. She started writing it, but apparently hit a plot hole or something, started over and missed the deadline. And since they weren't going to publish any pre-Spellplague books anymore it got cancelled entirely even though EC has said a few times that she might like a chance to finish it. (So never say never, but it isn't scheduled at all now.)
The other dates are probably for The Serpent's Daughter which was a post-Spellplague story about Azariah and also missed its deadline. *sob* This one was supposed to have a lot of Tincheron as well, which is why I thought of him. (Also not scheduled last thing I heard.)
I'll take Khelben then, unless somebody else comes up with another character they definitely want to request.

I need all the Joe Armstrong in my life for Yuletide! So clearly BBC Robin Hood RPF and The Hollow Crown RPF are on my list. Also, I think Nimona by

Possibly AY2K the comic strip, if I feel like being evil.
Other than that, I don't know. Probably see which of my standard offers aren't on the list yet and see what I can fill in.

This is a noir-ish fantasy/mystery podiobook. There's the long novel and the shorter soft-reboot series of short stories. The short story collection is also in print. http://mykebartlett.com/?q=sand_podcasts I want Nero!fic so much.
(2) Peter Panzerfaust
I've only just read the first trade of this comic, but it has utterly stolen my heart. Peter Pan, sans magic, in 1940s France. https://www.facebook.com/PeterPanzerfaust
(3) My third nom is trickier. I'm trying to narrow it down from this list (I've already narrowed it to 4 from 6, so progress!):
Saga--Comic, six issues out with a trade coming soon. Midst a galactic war, two young parents--one from each side of the war--try to keep their infant daughter alive. SciFi+Magic. Utterly gorgeous art. I'd love a story about The Stalk. http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=40449
Trader of Stories--Two short online games and some concept art in a blog. A woman has lost her memories and goes looking for answers. As she does so, she unravels others' stories, hoping each time that one may hold a key to her own. http://traderofstories.blogspot.com/
The "Children's Fantasy" comic from xkcd--http://xkcd.com/693/ Mostly just because I want the after story. After you've saved the world in some alt-universe, how do you go back to your life as before?
"Seventy-Two Letters" by Ted Chiang--'Alchemypunk' or genetic golems or I don't know. This novella/short story creates a very compelling world and one I'd love to see explored further. Full text is here: http://web.archive.org/web/20011031174945/http://www.tor.com/72ltrs.html

Third Watch is my only definite. It feels like a long shot, but I do love it and it would make my Yuletide to see new fic for it, even if it was fic I had to write myself. Cops! Firefighters! Paramedics! Basically, an awesome ensemble.
I'm also thinking about M*A*S*H RPF (and I called Third Watch a long shot!) and Happy Days, but something else could come up.

CANNOT WAIT UNTIL YULETIDE.
