FANDOM NAME: hiimmarymary, an interactive horror webseries/augmented reality game

WHAT MAKES IT GREAT: A young woman awakes in what seems to be a copy of her parents' home. She doesn't know how she got there, and she can't get out. She can't remember anything about herself except that her name is Mary. She picks up a video camera to start documenting her experiences..including interactions with a range of entities that mock and torment her, and one who seems to offer help.

This series is seriously frightening, and shows how scary isolation can be, especially for a young woman who seems to be fighting internal demons. The creator, a woman named K, acts out most of the roles, and began by uploading videos, but then extended into blogposts and a twitter feed. The blogposts often contain hidden messages to us, the audience, from the one entity that seems to be trying to help her.

hiimmarymary explores body image, self-esteem, loneliness, and depression, and you both sympathize with Mary and get frustrated with her, especially once she finds "the garden" -- an escape from the house on which she is growing dependent. The series has riveted me for 2 years and I truly don't know how the series is going to end.
