WHAT MAKES IT GREAT: Okay. So. I loved this series right up until the end of the first (only available) season. It begins with three teenagers waking up in a locked, featureless room with no memory and discovering they may or may not have abilities which help them get out. So right off the bat we have superpowers and amnesia, two great tropes that go great together.
I loved all the characters, and was fascinated by the directions things went. The expected romance wasn't. The friendship was important. The powers were interesting. The path of discovery as they went along kept me intrigued. Honestly, the only thing not to like is the ending.
If you like shows built around gaming, mystery, amnesia, heroes, squabbles between parties, etc. you will enjoy this. Me, I am desperate for future/fix-it fic!

Weird Guy never really interested me. I think he could be written to be interesting, but what he did in the show didn't grab me. They could have written him more as a Trickster (which would give more potential for the ending of the season not being the end of the story. If the ending is all as it appears, then... well, boring).

I think that 'The Hollow (cartoon)' probably fits best with AO3 standards. I'm inclined to add the year, too, just because the title is so very generic and brings up a very long list of things on the IMDb.

Sorry for dropping the ball on conversation. I have ideas about Death and about Weird Guy (I do think he's meant to be kind of a Trickster, but over-simplified in the game world format). Death kind of fascinated me just because he did keep coming back, and I hadn't thought about the idea of the Horse and the implications for death in general in that 'verse (why would there be a Death if people couldn't die?). Once I started thinking about it, I got into a mental loop about side quests to teach them how the potion/medicine worked.
With the flicker in Vanessa's eyes at the end, I'm guessing they aren't out (like, it COULD end there, or they could continue it somehow), which puts Weird Guy more into a Trickster mold potentially there, since he's actually running the show... like, he's given them what they want, and maybe he's the one making the rules for wherever they REALLY are.

I've put in two of my nominations (not yet reviewed) but not this one yet.
I'm rewatching right now in order to get my husband to see the show. When they're in the lab, there's a point when they could stay and loot the place but leave without doing it (I think Mira says that they should check to see if there's anything they can use but Kai starts to leave without the other two). Leaving as quickly as they did costs them later in as much as they have to use up some of their Weird Guy assistance in order to backtrack.
