I'd like to join yuletide chat

Someone posted a detailed, brilliant set of instructions for how to join yuletide chat on the livejournal comm, which helps me feel really stupid that I can't follow the instructions and connect. Can anyone help? I've never used IRC for anything other than #yuletide, so I'm very ignorant.

I always connected with Trillian Basic before, but now I have this new Trillian Astra program and I simply cannot find where to type in /join #yuletide. The posted instructions said I should get a connection status window by right-clicking the Trillian icon on my windows status bar, but I don't. I seem to be connected to irc.sff.net (the button changed from "connect" to "disconnect") but I get no pop-up window or anything to indicate what else I can do with the connection.

Sorry if this post doesn't belong here. The traffic didn't seem too busy over here, yet.

I don't know about Trillian, but I find Mibbit web IRC works well when nothing else will.

Thanks. If I have to give up on Trillian, I'll try Mibbit.

Thank you for this. I gave up on Trillian, but Mibbit seems to work for me just fine.
