MultiLingYule 2025
The MultiLingYule mini-challenge is for works in languages other than English.
Maybe there are very few fanworks in your first, second, etc language, and you'd love to connect with a fellow speaker who's also a fellow fan.
Maybe you're learning a new language and getting a gift in it would be a delightful way to improve your fluency.
Maybe you just want to talk about how much you love conlangs and invite someone to incorporate conlangs into your gift.
The possibilities are multi-ple!
On the creation side: unless someone has clearly indicated that a non-English work would suit as their only gift, gifts of that kind need be posted in Yuletide Madness, regardless of length. Works can only go in the main collection if they fulfil all the same requirements as an assigned gift.
Similarly, someone may be delighted to get a gift in a language you've just started to learn, and connect with you over enthusiasm for that language, but if you're posting a gift in the Main rather than the Madness collection, it should probably either be in a language you're fluent in or in a language you can call on fluent help for.
On the (tangential) beta side, people who can check text snippets, lines of dialogue, etc, in multiple languages are extremely valuable and appreciated, and if you can offer this service, please consider doing so when the beta post goes up.

MultiLingYule is an opt-in challenge similar to Crueltide and Interactive Fiction. Comment here to let people know
-if you are interested in receiving gifts in languages other than English
-what languages those are
-what you're prompting (link your letter; if you don't have a letter, you can link your prompts on the app after requests are revealed)
-any other useful notes.
With a Mod Hat On
On the requesting side: if you would be happy if a gift in a different language were your only gift, please also note this in the optional details of your sign-up form. This prevents mod panic when we go to check assignments and need to figure out if someone can actually read their gift!On the creation side: unless someone has clearly indicated that a non-English work would suit as their only gift, gifts of that kind need be posted in Yuletide Madness, regardless of length. Language: Dutch
Letter link: https://valdyas.org/irina/fo3/writing/dear-yuletide-writer-6/#floris (if it doesn't go to the right section there are links at the top of the letter)
This is a very Dutch series so having fic in Dutch for it would make a lot of sense. (I suppose you-the-writer can also read English or you wouldn't have signed up for Yuletide, so I'm not repeating the prompts in Dutch)

I’d love to receive a gift in either of these fandoms in Russian. Even if it’s my only gift!

I would love to receive a gift for any of these fandoms that's in Czech or that incorporates some Czech within the gift (including if it's my only gift). I won't fully understand it yet, since I'm still learning the language, but a gift would be a wonderful way to improve my language skills!

Tales of Asteria
Tales of Berseria
Tales of the Rays
Tales of the Rays: Recollection
Languages: Spanish and Japanese.
Letter: https://maulester.dreamwidth.org/1441.html
Spanish is actually my mother tongue, and Japanese is the original language for all of these, meanwhile only Berseria and the first arc of Rays are officially available in English. Fan translations in English are available for Rays and Recollection but, as far as I know, there is no fan translation available for the arcs where any of the characters that I'm requesting in Asteria appear.

Language: Irish
Letter: https://panickyintheuk.dreamwidth.org/356.html
I'm not fluent in Irish but would love something that incorporated it. I'm pretty sure 28 Years Later is the only fandom that really makes any sense for Irish though if someone wanted to get creative with one of my other fandoms I'd totally be open to that!
For 28 Years Later, NE England has a LOT of people of Irish descent, so it could definitely be justified. Also (getting into the weeds now sorry), it's not entirely clear whether ROI is in the same boat as GB, because the film uses the terminology of "the UK" (which incorporates GB, assorted other islands, and Northern Ireland). However, if Northern Ireland does have infected then it makes zero sense for ROI to have escaped infection. A fic set on the island of Ireland examining the situation there would be very welcome. Did the different governments handle things differently? What happened with the border? Were people's reactions to military intervention different in Ireland than they were in England (for obvious reasons)? What's the situation in the Gaeltachtaí? What if an English-speaking refugee rocked up to a surviving Gaeltacht settlement?

Language: Irish, Choctaw, Yoruba
Letter: https://panickyintheuk.dreamwidth.org/356.html
Okay I thought I would do this as a reply rather than editing my comment again (I'm a typo fiend lately).
I rewatched Sinners and realised that it totally makes sense for Irish, haha. I think it didn't occur to me because Remmick wasn't a nominated character, BUT if anybody wanted to write a pre-canon Remmick fic in/using Irish that would be very cool. Incorporating Choctaw would be cool as hell too, but I don't speak that at all so I would need it to be translated <3 Same for Yoruba in an Annie-centric fic!

Language: in game conlangs or a fan made one if they want to create one to represent an imaginary fan level.
Letter link: https://sir-bear.dreamwidth.org/677.html
prompt: (quoted from letter) "Chants of Sennaar" is a language translation based puzzle game. I think it would be really neat to get a fic written partially or wholly in the in game languages. That may be tricky in ao3, formatting wise, and the vocabulary set is fairly limited, so it may make more sense as a madness idea. But if you’re up for the challenge, I’d also be so here for that as a the main gift.
I would be ok if something written in the in game languages/a fanmade conlang based on the game / not in english was my only gift with this fandom.
I’d be open for Scientific writing, poetry, letters, more conversations / translated dialogue puzzles between the different people of the tower, or any other odd formats as part of worldbuilding and/or in game language.
This same request is also in the Yulebuilding and unconventionyule mini-challenges.

If my gift is for Etoile or The Champions, I would be ecstatic to read a French gift. It can be my only gift, mods, no problem.

I would love to receive treats in or involving Latin, ancient Greek, Spanish, French, or German. For Barron's E-Z Math Textbook Series, one of my prompts is a crossover with other educational fandoms, which could definitely include language learning!

Language: Japanese
I don't have a letter yet, but I think I am the only person requesting these first two fandoms. I would love to receive fic in Japanese, it feels less applicable to Chess but if you want to then go for it! I am conversationally fluent-ish but I can't guarantee I would get all the nuances with writing so I'd be asking for it in madness.

Fandom and character(s): Frasier, Freddy & David
Prompts: They both definitely speak French (Freddy canonically and if David isn't canonically...*gestures* he def speaks French) so something where they're trying to speak privately in public so switch to French would be a *delight*. Would be so happy for this to be my main gift.

Fandom: Tatort (TV 1970)
Any specific fandom details, preferences, comments, etc: This is a classic German TV series and fic in German just makes a lot of sense for it. I am certainly extremely happy to receive gifts for it in German, including my only gift. (However, this fandom actually has far more fics in German than in English, so maybe adding to the English fics is actually a good idea.)
