Two for One is an annual mini-challenge to help people who like crossovers and/or fusions find one another's requests.

Some clarification about crossover types:
Crossovers tend to involve Fandom A's characters interacting with Fandom B's characters or worldbuilding, with everyone retaining their canon backgrounds. Ex. Aurora and Red Riding Hood team up to defeat a villain, or Clark Kent falls into a portal that takes him to Tortall.

Fusions tend to be AUs in which Fandom A's characters have always existed in Fandom B's setting instead of their own, often replacing Fandom B's characters. Ex. Pacha and Kronk as contestants in the Hunger Games, where Kuzco and Yzma are referees. (A fic like this in which Hunger Games characters also appear would be a hybrid between a fusion and crossover.)

Lost and Found with all of the baggage and objects in the forest, and the poison paint made of crushed flowers! Scar with the chandelier that lights itself! Passion’s room full of weird statues and the giant birdcage!) It feels like a great fit for The Locked Tomb as well, with pairs of characters like Ghost and Jay, Sunshine and Moonshine, etc. Torchwood/Jack Harkness or The Old Guard feel like a fun option for Dum Dum, with the way Moonshine drops on the bridge and Lovedie gasps back to life.

- The Paradise of Thorns: After Sek's death, Thongkam ends up in the same village as Pharan from Khemjira. Ghosts! Partnership! Reluctant opening up! Unexpected love! I love the worldbuilding in Khemjira, and I want Pharan to have someone to share his burdens/break through his isolation, and Thongkam to have a happy ending. My brain has decided the way to accomplish this is by squishing them together into one story.

Face in the Frost: This book is extremely fertile ground for crossovers. Its world clearly has a very porous connection with our own. The very first sentence of Chapter 1 reads “Several centuries (or so) ago, in a country whose name doesn’t matter, there was a tall, skinny, straggly-bearded wizard named Prospero, and not the one you are thinking of, either.” Which begs the question: so what about the one we are thinking of? Did this Prospero ever interact with/influence Shakespeare’s Prospero, or Shakespeare himself? And there is no such disclaimer attached to Prospero’s friend Roger Bacon: should we conclude that he is the Roger Bacon we’re thinking of? I’d love to hear more about any such connections.

If the boundary with our world is porous, it’s not hard to imagine that the boundaries with other worlds might be the same way. Bellairs considered The Face in the Frost his attempt to write something along the lines of The Lord of the Rings, with Prospero as his answer to Gandalf. So, what if Prospero crosses paths with the actual Gandalf, or possibly a party of hobbits/dwarves/elves/whatever his world’s equivalent may be? On another note, I can absolutely see Prospero and Roger Bacon hanging out with some of Bellairs’ other characters: Roderick Childermass, Florence Zimmermann, Jonathan Barnavelt… That group could have an amazing tea-and-cake party/poker game. Or, what if Howl or Chrestomanci pops in through a portal, Dorothy takes a wrong turn on her way to Oz, or Alice’s looking glass sends her through Prospero’s magic mirror? What if Harold Postmartin discovers some of Prospero’s writings in a dusty library somewhere? Did Prospero need to fight a snake in order to defend his thesis be certified as a wizard? I mean, you can go nuts here.

Snake Fight: I decided to request this because I want fantasy crossovers. I’d love to see any kind of riff on the Snake Fight concept set in a universe that has magic. It can be a narrative, another FAQ document, or any other piece of in-universe meta that occurs to you. Feel free to involve canon characters from whatever source you choose, and/or OCs. Here are some specific ideas: I’ve mentioned The Face in the Frost and The Incandescent in my requests here.
Almost any Diana Wynne Jones canon would probably be good, but I think the idea fits especially well into the Derkholm, Howl, or Magids series. (Maybe Howl created a portal to Ingary as a way to avoid his snake fight in Wales? What kind of “snake “ does Maree or Nick need to defeat in order to qualify as a Magid? Derkholm… well, the applications are obvious.)
The Enchanted Forest Chronicles: was there a snake fight involved in Morwen’s or Telemain’s magical training? Is there an equivalent for dragons?
Does Casterbrook, or another magic school in the Rivers of London universe, include a snake fight in its graduation requirements?
The snake fight seems like the sort of absurdity that would be right at home in Wonderland or on the other side of the Looking Glass, perhaps in relation to Carrol’s| Dodgson’s career as a mathematician.
Canonically, the Scholomance graduation is already a sort of full-class snake fight writ large, but how does this change in the post-canon era? Is there a more formal/ritualized map-defeating tradition that survives?

The Incandescent: Could Saffy Walden’s thesis defense (or Nikki Conway’s, or another character’s of your choice) be tied in with the Snake Fight?
In my post about this book, I made the fairly out-there connection that Mark Daubery could be read as a cynical outsider POV on Chrestomanci. If you want to do a Chrestomanci crossover, I’d absolutely be here for that! Maybe some students end up deliberately or accidentally summoning Chrestomanci? Or perhaps he wishes to share his no-doubt strong views on the safe and ethical treatment of demons?

Mackenzie Bock (The batman) works well as a fairly blank slate character here. He’s a background role with less than 3 minutes of screentime. Still, Ian could have a fascinating dynamic with chief Bock. Both officers, but very different vibes and relationships with their work. Plus power and age dynamics between the two. (This pairing would be an exception to the E rated works DNW, if that’s where you’d like to go with it.)

Jim Caxton (Midsommer murders) - my Autistic cheese boy. Also a single episode role that stands alone well. Midsommer Murders s15 E6 “Schooled in murder.” Another underappreciated man who deserved better and deserves some love. Not sure what his dynamic with Ian would be, but I am very here with it.

Val Pearson (BBC Uncle)
I would have a mild preference to other crossovers or canon universe over Val, just because the only two Ian fics we already have are Val fics. But Val is still always delightful, a powerhouse, and I will never say no to more of them. (Any pronouns ok for Val.) Val/Ian will still be gladly accepted if that’s where you’re drawn.

RoL/The Old Guard: There are lots of different types of immortal (or, at least, really old) people in the RoL universe. How do the Old Guard fit?

RoL/Terminator: If Judgment Day happens, and Terminators have microchips, all of a sudden being a wizard is a superpower to save the world. On the other hand, what if Sarah and John et al ended up in Britain and got tangled up in a case? What would Peter make of time travel?

Caprica/Battlestar Galactica: is Tamara-A still around in some Cylon computer system somewhere during the Cylon war? What does she think of the Final Five? Does she ever get a chance to meet Bill Adama?

Caprica/Murderbot Diaries: Tamara would be horrified by the Cylon war. So would Murderbot and ART. I wonder what their perspective on Tamara would be, and also, remember how the Centurions in BSG have those little doohickies in their heads that force them to obey the skinjobs? Isn't that like a governor module? What would Murderbot do? Are the colonies a lost colony that ART is trying to contact and save from invading corporates?

Caprica/Imperial Radch: Tamara is the opposite of Breq. (Human consciousness uploaded to a computer, instead of a computer consciousness downloaded to a human body.) And the Cylons rising up and killing humans would be anathema to Breq and any AI of the Radch.

Sense8/Rivers of London: What if they run into Peter while on the run? or what if somehow Wolfgang has come up against Tobias Winter in some previous brush with the law? The same sort of people who would experiment on telepaths also seem to me to be the sort of people who would experiment on fae.

I love seeing the crew of the Cerritos run into other Star Trek characters. Having Rutherford interact with other engineers would be a delight. Did he take a class from one at the academy? Do they have a support group where they talk about being the most downtrodden position on a starfleet crew? (It's not just O'Brien. It's ALL the engineers. They all get pummeled over and over again.) For Some Like It Hot I really love the idea of Jerry/Daphne and Joe crossing paths with Cosmo and Don on the vaudeville circuit. Or of Daphnecita's becoming a safe space for Golden Era Hollywood queer folks to come hang out. And the goofs in Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead could turn up basically anywhere! Another Shakespeare play. A holodeck! Waiting for Godot!

- Wayfarers/Leverage - my very specific idea for this was to imagine the Leverage team existing in the Wayfarers universe and then imagining Pepper calling the Leverage team for help breaking into the museum to steal back her shuttle. but more broadly I think the Leverage team existing in the Wayfarers universe could be deeply intriguing - what systemic injustices exist that they'd be fighting? how might they cross paths with any of the Wayfarers characters?
- Wayfarers/Murderbot - the worlds are very different but these are both scifi sagas in space so there's gotta be a way to combine them, right? Murderbot and Sidra have so much they could bond over.

- Nettle & Bone/any other Kingfisher fantasy - I believe I've read all of them except the most recent (Hemlock & Silver?) and they would combine so nicely. all of her protagonists would get along so well and deserve to meet and swap stories.
- Jane Unlimited/anything - we have alternate universes already. who's to say there isn't another portal hiding in Tu Reviens that leads to a universe of your choosing?
- 16 Ways/anything - what if the vampire we're killing is simply in a different world and a random other character walks in and is another option for who you can go to for help?

Inception/Turners. I love the idea of any group of characters with various talents--ranging from street smarts to knowledge of chemistry--working as a team to pull off something with PASIV technology, and the Turners definitely has that type of group. It wouldn't have to be some majorly plotted information heist though; something using the sci-fi to delve into the psychology of any of the characters would be cool.

Pacific Rim/any. Drift compatibility! Always down for these fusions.

The Long Walk/The Vast of Night. A fusion with McVries and Garraty paralleling the lead roles here would be fun, whether or not it's still set in their dystopian world (the military exploitation and government cover-ups would fit right in but with a higher sense of danger in Bachman 'verse). Or maybe Everett and Fay's abduction somehow brings them into the alternate universe of TLW and it's a kind of mirror universe where some of their friends and family still exist (maybe Everett is found to have died in the Walk?).

David Mitchell novels/any. This is already built into Utopia Avenue but I've read everything in the "Mitchellverse" and any reference to his recurring reincarnation theme is what I'm about. I love the idea of an Anchorite or more likely a Horologist (if you're not changing the manner of death) taking over the body of a character who canonically dies, or just appearing as an antagonist or a source of help in some strange way. In any case I'm always glad to see Marinus, wherever they may appear, whether characters around them know about their immortality or not.
