Now that author names have been revealed at the main Yuletide 2023 and Yuletide Madness 2023 collections, it's traditional for people to share thoughts on what they made this year. Maybe you want to write a post on your own social media (Dreamwidth or other) about your thoughts during canon consumption, your false starts, your research rabbit holes - please link it here! Or maybe you'd like to comment directly with much shorter thoughts. There's room for options in between, too.

I guessed you'd written the fic about Onfim and Danilo, and I'm delighted to see that you wrote another one I liked very much! (The Monstrous Regiment one)

Because of the Orthodoxy?

The Monstrous Regiment one was an irresistible pinch hit, and I wrote it in the same headspace as With This Ring (trans Mal, Polly who is "she" when people know her and "sir" to strangers). We can safely assume that they're married by now.

Partly, but mostly because you were among the few people who gushed about the idea when it was brought up in the discord, and I knew I didn't write it. There was another fic which I didn't think was yours though. And I think that was because the one you wrote felt perhaps more in line with what I remembered from your likes/dislikes post. But. You know. Vibes are hard to grasp.
(Knowledge about orthodoxy alone doesn't mean you're familiar with birch bark texts.)

Yes, but knowledge about Orthodoxy does mean knowing about married priests and their wives' titles! (I can't find the other Onfim fic, do you have a link?)

I wrote five gifts this yuletide, which totalled up to 61k words worth of fic! The fandoms I wrote for included Arkham Horror, Frostpunk, National Treasure, and Outlast. This was my first year doing Yuletide and I exhausted myself but had so much fun.

I had such a good time writing these, and "disease" got so many lovely comments it made me proud!

My biggest challenge for this Yuletide was that I'd read two book trilogies where a character has magical powers related to sewing (other than my assigned fandom Rook & Rose by M. A. Carrick I read The Unraveled Kingdom by Rowenna Miller - both great reads!).

I had a very clear idea of what I wanted to write for my assignment, but I had to go reread parts of canon to make sure I wasn't mixing up my fandoms 😆

I wrote 8 fic this year: Singing Hills (Journey to Paradise), Obsession Boardgame (Courtship in 4 Acts - over in Madness), Ancient Egypt/New Kingdom (Beloved of Aten), Rivers (Into Conferenced Waters), and Eliduc (Guildeluëc and Guilliadun) for a cumulative 85k.
