Offer to beta for Yuletide fics!

Looking for someone familiar with your small Yuletide canon and willing to help check your story? Wondering if you're getting the details right about your story's setting, or the spelling of a line in another language, or the work your characters do? The beta spreadsheet is here for you.

If you're interested in beta reading somebody else's story, fill out the form HERE. It will ask about what fandoms you are willing to beta for, as well as other kinds of expertise you're willing to offer. Note that you will need to enter an email address, which will be visible to other users. After you've filled out the form, you'll get an email containing your responses and a link you can use to edit your answers.

If you need a beta, check the spreadsheet HERE. All responses will be visible in the tab "Form Responses 1." I'll be copy-pasting information from there into the other tabs as I'm able, to make them easier to find. Find someone offering the kind of help you need (make sure it's not your recipient!) and contact them directly. If no one is offering what you need, you can also comment (anonymously) on this post to see if someone can help, or you can sign onto the Yuletide Discord and contact a hippo.

If you have any questions, comment on this post or email me, eccentric.hat at gmail.

I don't understand "The default is that you're offering a canon-compliance check AND a general beta (for example, comments on pacing, SPAG, or plot holes). If you're only offering canon-compliance checks for some fandoms, put a note after the fandom's name."

I'll do SPAG on anything that isn't horror, but there's a list of perhaps a few dozen fandoms I know well enough to check canon compliance; do I just list them in this box, or do I need to put (canon compliance check) after each one?

Yes, that helped immensely, and I finished my list and submitted the form. Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for posting this. :D I'm planning to fill it out, but I got a bit stuck on the second page where it looks like we can only opt out of AO3 archive warnings or else choose "please contact me to discuss." I was hoping to be able to specify something like "I'll read anything except E-rated" or similar. If we submit the form, can we then go to the spreadsheet and edit it to specify what we won't read, so people don't have to email us about it? Or will we still only be able to choose from the options in the form?

Got it, that all makes sense. Thanks for the explanation. :)
