Two for One 2021 (aka The Crossover Challenge)
Two for One is an annual sub-challenge to help people who like crossovers and/or fusions find one another's requests.
To participate, simply copy-paste the following into a comment:
AO3 Name:
Letter Link:
Crossover Type: (ie. crossover, fusion, or either)
Potential Fandom Combinations: (list all combinations you're interested in, ex. James Bond/Ted Lasso, Succession/Squid Game)
Prompts!: (as many and as detailed as you like)
One of the fandoms in each pairing must be one you are requesting for Yuletide; however, the other doesn’t have to be. It doesn’t even have to be in the tagset at all!
Some clarification about crossover types:
• Crossovers tend to involve Fandom A's characters interacting with Fandom B's characters or worldbuilding, with everyone retaining their canon backgrounds. Ex. Harley Quinn and The X-Men team up to defeat a villain, or Enola Holmes falls into a portal that takes her to Westeros.
• Fusions tend to be AUs in which Fandom A's characters have always existed in Fandom B's setting instead of their own, often replacing Fandom B's characters. Ex. Bucky Barnes as a contestant in the Hunger Games, where Fury and Howard Stark are referees. (A fic like this in which Hunger Games characters also appear would be a hybrid between a fusion and crossover.)

Crossover Type: crossover, fusion
Prompts:
Inception/Turners. I love the idea of any group of characters with various talents--ranging from street smarts to chemistry--working as a team to pull off something with PASIV technology, and the Turners definitely has that type of group. It wouldn't have to be some majorly plotted dream heist though; something using the sci-fi to delve into the psychology of any of the characters would be cool.
The Magicians/any. Brakebills students! You could go the fusion route of implanting a magic school into the time and setting of a canon or still make it in New York.
It Follows/any. I just find this a great premise for iddy fusions, with the need for intimate contact it creates as well as the sacrificial (or selfish) meaning attached to the sex. But if you mainly want to embrace the horror element, that would be excellent too. I'd like to see how the creature would fit into the eerie atmosphere of Tana French's novels.
David Mitchell novels/any. This is already built into Utopia Avenue but I've read everything in the "Mitchellverse" and any reference to his recurring reincarnation theme is what I'm about. I love the idea of an Anchorite or more likely a Horologist (if you're not changing the manner of death) taking over the body of a character who canonically dies, or just appearing as an antagonist or a source of help in some strange way. Could these beings exist in space/among aliens, or somehow discover on Earth what's going on with Isserley's species? In any case I'm always glad to see Marinus, wherever they may appear, whether characters around them know about their immortality or not.
