I'm not going to lie to you, I laughed when I saw this email notification arrive earlier today while I was working. Because not only were you the first person to comment on this post last year, you were also the first person to comment on this post last year. And don't let's forget about this comment on a 2016 post, because I hadn't yet made any 2017 posts. Now I'm wondering if you were also first to pester me in previous years, but probably not the best use of my time to go looking, hahahahahaha.

Anyway, part of the reason it was so funny (in a charming way; totally not bothered) was because I was actually planning to buckle down and do some swaps stuff this afternoon anyway. I flirted with getting started early in September, actually (I broke my leg so have been chilling at home a lot more than usual the last two months), but then I was like, oh, what's the point, it doesn't make sense to open sign-ups until around the time of Yuletide proper sign-ups anyway...and then, you know, time got away from me a little. Interesting thing, though! Just now I thought you were a bit early to be bugging me (first week of October?!), but actually, I guess there WAS one year I opened sign-ups this early! I guess that year we were on top of our shit and decided to do it pre-YT-signups instead of overlapping or after. Or November, like in early years, l o l.

ANYWAY, I'm off to clean up some sign-up forms. Watch this space! I originally planned to open sign-ups in the middle of the YT sign-ups period (so like, next weekend), but now I'm thinking, maybe sooner if I get all the stuff done? It used to be that we worried people would miss sign-ups if they were too early and people weren't paying attention to YT comms yet, but these days we send that email blast, and I don't think it's like we're acquiring a ton of new players annually anyway.

P.S. In general: don't worry, swaps will always happen as long as I'm able to do it! And if/when I eventually can't, I promise to put the word out in hopes that someone else will take over. :) But I understand that these nudges are as much an expression of your excitement as an actual question, haha.
