But I'm not sure my letter's much use for art, so I might as well post any relevant thoughts directly here.

Le città invisibili | Invisible Cities - Italo Calvino: I love the intertwined, endlessly nested nature of Berenice. Or there are 'the perfumed pools of the baths where the unjust of Berenice recline and weave their intrigues with rotund eloquence and observe with a proprietary eye the rotund flesh of the bathing odalisques'. Or something austere and innocent from the city of the just: a simple bowl perhaps.

I feel there should be probably be something possible for Euphemia dealing with shifting and unreliable memories, or memories that are part yours and part someone else's, but I have no idea what.

Táng Cháo | Tang Dynasty RPF: Look, I love the imagery of his poems. On this one, I think my letter prompt works just as well for art: what I would really love is a story where that imagery is real - where Li He's life follows much the course it did in reality, but he truly saw a world of ghosts and demons and almost unutterably strange things. Show me some of those things!

Omar Rayyan: Art prompts for art requests are always a little difficult, I think. There's too much temptation to want a copy of the original artist's style, but I do see a possibility for 'Spanish Mackerel' - other art about the undersea world, showing it as rich and strange and unsettlingly almost but not quite human.

Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio: One of the themes I'm particularly interested in here is the impermanent and unreal nature of reality - perhaps something playing with that? Or alternatively anything at all with fox spirits, or some of the more charming ghosts.

General Likes: Examples of things I like (this is probably poorly phrased! I don't have much practice at prompting for art. I've tried to indicate examples of what I mean, but they may not have made anything clearer.)

A sense of detail and precision (e.g. illustrations in late Victorian children's books; botanical sketches; complicated repeating patterns; Indian and Persian miniatures; bird-and-flower paintings, particularly of the gongbi school). Conversely, also simple and bold (particularly if black and white, or black, white and one other colour, and more graceful, sinuous lines, rather than angular or blocky). Or with some parts trailing off into misty imprecision (e.g. Song dynasty landscape painting), or merely an impression created by a few brushstrokes. Colour schemes either fairly muted, or with rich jewel tones, but generally not neons, pastels or deliberately clashing colours. Play of light and shadow, especially in black and white works.

But really, this is an extra treat - if anyone wants to do any art at all of any of my fandoms, in whatever style and of whatever subject, I'm going to be pleased and grateful (and amazed).

I've linked my letter, so I'll just put some general thoughts on art here - I love art, all kinds. Seriously. Chibi cuteness, rough sketches, precision lineart, paintings, digital manips, photo stories... you name it, I'm there for it. I'm fine with any rating and don't have any DNWs but my likes are listed in my letter.

In single character pieces I particularly like eyes, hair or hands as focal points. The thing I most look for in shippy art is a sense of connection between them - eye contact, casual touching, almost but not quite touching, secret smiles, etc. I'm a sucker for anything that depicts tenderness, even if it's half hidden under arguments or exasperation. :D

I love so many art styles: line art, pen and ink, pencil drawings, colored pencils, paint, watercolor, digital art, etc. I'd say my favorite things in art tend to be the awe-inspiring realistic with vibrant colors and sharp or soft edges, line art / ink / pencil theme pieces that pick up visual symbols of the characters, and cute stylized fluff pieces with romance or humor in mind. I also adore illustrative art that captures a scene or moment of fic or canon. I would absolutely love landscapes or still lifes of any of the scenery or environments or architecture, etc. of any of my fantasy canons.

General DNW:

Emaciated character styling, really red noses.

Prompts:

I'd love to see art of the dancing or "singing" in any of the appropriate canons. I love dance imagery and Marie with the unicorns or even Zéphine or Abigail dancing (or even dancing for Wes) would put me over the moon. Swords and sword fighting strikes me the same way as dance when well done, and I'd love to see Cantiléna or Imre or Eroico in the midst of a song. For Esthe, I'd love art of her scrying in particular. But I'd also truly love any little moment from canon that strikes your fancy or fluffy AU art focused on any of the canon relationships, romantic or otherwise, or something more symbolic and thematic or showing some of the world of the story, even without showing the characters themselves.

The Dark Tower - Stephen King: This is such a spectacularly visual series: the Tower, the rose, the gunslinger chasing the man in black across the vast desert, the doors, the sandalwood guns, the lobstrosities, Shardik, Andy. I love western imagery. I love Tarot cards. I'd love to see Susannah in her wheelchair firing her guns, Eddie carving something, Roland in a showdown or resting his weary feet at a campfire, Susan and Roland having a romantic moment, Susan singing or in an AU as a gunslinger, or any of them interacting, or any scene from the book illustrated. Or anything else that inspires you! If you don't want to show any of the characters, any bit of the world would also be 100% welcome. Please no X-rated scenes (sexy at a no-genitals showing level is fine.)

Earthsea - Ursula K. Le Guin: Oh, man, I would SO love to see Yarrow with her harekki. I would also love to see Vetch at Roke or in his cozy home, or Penthe on the wall with an apple. I picture Vetch and Yarrow as black and Penthe as white. And, headcanon which you can ignore, but I've always pictured Yarrow with twists or braids.

The Stand - Stephen King: I'd just be really curious to see any of the characters visualized. Or a look at post-flu America. Some of the images that haunt me are the corn field, the crows, small figures in a vast landscape, the highways clogged with cars, Larry playing his guitar with no one to hear him, the crucifixes in Vegas, Dayna and Jenny fixing the lights in Vegas, Nadine with the ouija board, Flagg walking down the road, Lloyd with his red-flawed stone, and Nadine's white-streaked hair. Please no X-rated scenes (sexy at a no-genitals showing level is fine.)

The Tale of the Five - Diane Duane: I would love to see any of the characters - maybe Herewiss with his flaming sword, or Segnbora with her sword of shadow or with a dragon's shadow behind her.

Ki and Vandien Quartet - Megan Lindholm: Such a cool visual canon! Vandien telling a story with string, drinking from round-bottomed glasses in a tray of sand, Vandien fencing, Ki with her team or fixing up her wagon or at a campfire, beneath the silver Sisters, hurt/comfort, Vandien struggling with the skeel, any of the weird alienish creatures.

To me, the visual aesthetic of Killjoys cries out for a very dramatic high-contrast style, light vs. dark, intense colors, perhaps even manga style artwork. My desires for art in this fandom are fit for Crueltide. I mentioned body horror as a DNW in my letter, but I'd be intrigued by artwork exploring that aspect of the green plasma.

Even though Ladyhawke is decades old, the loving work the creators put into filming those moments of dawn and dusk, with the two lovers reaching out to each other, made them incredibly beautiful. Also, canonical animal transformations? It deserves artwork! In my letter I talk about how much I want to see the three main characters in a close and intimate relationship (sexual or not) together, and I'd certainly appreciate art that highlights this.
Content prompts:
* A tender post-coital moment, with Isabeau and Philippe curled up asleep together, and Etienne in human or wolf form lovingly and protectively standing watch over them.
* Art that either shows the character(s) in animal form, or in human form but illustrating the traits of that animal-self.
* Art focusing on the transient and unique beauty of the light of dawn, dusk, or the total eclipse itself.
* Show me something true about the moment that curse broke.

This fandom is a really unusual m/m novella, with a 'Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic' mix of fantasy and sci-fi. It has a non-linear narrative structure, and is joyful but with a subtle undercurrent of horror throughout the story. It makes me think of mixed media, the warm simple life of a menial or warrior of Olorum contrasted with the cold high-tech science and psionics of the female Cousins, Asheans and other 'gods'.
Content prompts:
* The monstrous Sybil's fragmented prophetic vision of the many possibilities as she sends Lucrio to Olorum to find his love, anticipating the sweetness of his bitter tears.
* Aqib in motion: either abandoning himself to the gods in the sacred dance, or playing and wrestling with the cheetah Sabah.
* The Blessed Femysade as a hologram, saying goodbye to Aqib and Lucretia.
* Aqib in the garden, full of joy as he calls the songbird to him. Hello there, strange fellow, she sang. You've a lovely song!
* A mind-eye's view of the Asheans manipulating Aqib's memories or implanting the geas.
* The two Aqib's, in the two timelines, seeing each other. Both are the dream, and both the dreamer.

Machineries of Empire: Cheris in uniform! Cheris commanding her infantry? What do any of the mentioned effects – Formation effects, exotic weapons, invariant ice that's being bombarded – look like? How does a Hexarchate ship compare to a Hafn ship, appearance-wise?

Vorkosigan saga: Simon and Aral in the middle of a tense conversation. Simon and Aral, dwarfed by the weight of history and the scale of ImpSec HQ/the Imperial Residence. Unplanned illicit hook-ups in windowless rooms, complete with clothes being removed.

The Traitor Baru Cormorant: Something with masks? Crisp winter landscapes. Baru in Tain Hu's holdings. Tain Hu, victorious. Baru with Aminata's boarding sabre. Baru and Tain Hu riding with their banners.

I think this would work well with People of Earth (a group image of the aliens with the reptilians' green colour sticking out, or a portrait of one reptilian in a human disguise with some of their green scales showing) or with one of my requested characters, Green Fury, in Powerless (green flames!). My crossover prompt of Green Fury/Batwoman could have some amazing colours, too.

I like straightforward art such as portraits but also kinda surreal elements, like characters with fantasy features added, inhuman characters' inhumaness highlighted, or weird parts of canon alluded to in art. An example would be a portrait of Ozzie with deer antlers! That would be cool.
