What is TransTide?
Since trans headcanons and the portrayal of trans characters can be personal for many people, writers might be nervous to write trans headcanons without invitation. This mini challenge is for people to signal that they would love to receive trans headcanons, as well as to showcase their requested fandoms with canon trans characters.
Note that this exchange is open to nonbinary characters as well.

Details: The story is about a woman (Kim Yoonhee) who dresses as a man to attend university in Joseon-era Korea. I could easily see her having a trans revelation in the middle of it, or any of the other main characters discovering that about themselves.

Likes: Attention to how gender functions and is conceptualized in canon’s society, what types of transition is or isn't available, and how transition impacts ability to inherit (in relevant canons). I also like when nonbinary characters have a specific gender beyond "nonbinary," even when the label isn't mentioned in text.
DNWs: Christmas or fictional equivalents, setting change AUs, on-page sex with a character under 16 (or species equivalent; discussions of solo or paired sexual exploration prior to this age are fine)

What if Eijeh was trans? How would that complicate his merging with Ryzek and their shared experience in Eijeh's body? (I wouldn't want Ryzek to be trans. It would be fascinating, actually, with how hard he feels he needs to prove himself...but I think that would completely change his relationship with his father, who may not even want him as an heir. So unless you wanna write an epic and rethink some major things, let's go with Eijeh instead!) Given the setting, I'm cool with some aspects of medical transition -- say, a masculinizing potion -- though I don't think Eijeh would be wealthy enough to access surgery of any kind.
Hero is canonically not a woman or a man (given how their identity isn't labelled in the book, I don't want to label it in my request). I don't mind whether you decide on an AGAB for them or leave it obscured! In this case I wouldn't want any aspects of medical transition.

Generally I DNW non-canon ships (or for that matter, much sex or romance to begin with), second-person writing, non-canonical character death, or Christmas fic.

Characters: Marty McFly
Details: I love love love when people do readings of Marty McFly as a trans guy and would enjoy almost any fic exploring the idea (so long as it heeds my general DNWs). I think there's so much that can be explored when it comes to what it would be like to be a trans time traveler -- whether it's visiting different eras of history with different norms and perceptions around gender, the idea of different versions of yourself existing in different timelines, or something else entirely. It's just such a rich vein to explore in fic!
