Also, I like how both series involve urban settings and a magic that's rationalized in-universe (even though the Crows' world does cast some Grisha as saints.) Black Magician Trilogy/Eye of the Beholder - More magicians outside the Guild! And more cultural differences around magic! Wheel of Time/Legend of the Seeker - How would the Mord'Sith and Confessors fit within the world of The Wheel of Time? Gods of Jade and Shadow/Ring Shout - Casiopea is New Orleans, and faces down/hears of the demons, or interacts with the characters who fight them.
