Fandoms:
Cycling RPF: Vincenzo Nibali, Domenico Pozzovivo
Tintin: Tintin, captain Haddock, Tchang Tchong-Jen, Piotr Szut
Happy Endings Preferred?: Yes
Wanted tropes:
Cycling: Disordered eating, anxiety, loneliness, coping with injuries, canon-typical homophobia (it's a conservative sport with macho-ideals and catholic faith, after all), homesickness, rivalry, hurt/comfort. Feeling of guilt because of religious/societal norms and mores. Prejudice against people from the South of Italy ("terroni" is considered a slur, used against people from the south if Italy. They'll sometimes refer to themselves as that, but it's a bit like the n-word in English, meaning that non-southerners shouldn't be using it). Dealing with the death of friends/colleagues.
Tintin: Further exploration of episodes in the books where things went wrong/could have gone wrong, such as but not limited to:
Tintin's stay in a Japanese prison during The Blue Lotus
What if he became addicted to opium during his stay in China?
All the times he got hurt/injured
In a way "Tintin in Tibet" sums up my likes in this genre: The protagonists suffer all through the story, but in the end they're saved and in one piece (except for the poor, lonely yeti)
Captain Haddock's alcoholism, hurt/comfort, period-typical attitudes to homosexuality, trust issues/learning to trust, orphan!Tintin
And in general there are just many darker episodes in the comic
Unwanted tropes: Death/deathfic (unless it's referring to canonical deaths). Infidelity. Angst with no happy ending/bleak and unhappy endings. Graphic non-con. Unrequested changes to the canon resulting in an unhappy ending (such as "Tintin didn't find Tchang in time and he perished in Tibet"). Humiliation, explicit, graphic torture and violence. Dystopia. Insanity. Dr. Müller actually succeeding in sending Tintin off to an insane asylum.
