Rec: Kubla Khan

Title: Kubla Kahn; Or, a vision in a dream. A Fragment.
Media: Poem
Approx length: 349 words
Where to find it:https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/43991/kubla-khan

What is it, in summary?: This is one of the great Romantic poems. Coleridge claimed that he had a magnificent dream, woke, and sat down to write a poem about it. Sadly, he was interrupted by "a person from Porlock", who kept Coleridge talking long enough to forget the rest of the story.

What do you love about it?: The poem is ridiculously vivid. It rises to what should have been the first crescendo ... and ends. The Person from Porlock, if he existed, has a lot to answer for.

What sort of things are you likely to request for it?: I'd like something set in the milieu. A story that focuses on the worldbuilding, or lays out what Kubla Khan had in mind, or what Alph, the Sacred River was up to.
