FANDOM NAME: Mysterious Benedict Society - TV WHAT IS IT: Disney+ adaptation of the first Mysterious Benedict Society novel, consisting of 8 hour-long episodes WHAT MAKES IT GREAT: There's a bigger emphasis on the adults (including Miss Perumal, Reynie's tutor/future adoptive mother, who has a much larger presence in the plot) in the show compared to the book; I particularly liked Rhonda and Number Two's relationship. Benedict and Curtain's backstory has been changed slightly, and the show uses this change to good effect for some angst. Martina Crowe character arc! Martina's a minor antagonist in the books, but she's a bit more fleshed out in the show, and even comes to the rescue at the end! I also really enjoyed the character dynamic she and Kate had, which brings us to our final point: Kate/Martina shippiness - there's a big emphasis on Martina trusting Kate/viewing her as her only friend. Also tetherball, which is surprisingly homoerotic.
