I like bold colours (but also black-and-white pieces) and high contrast. As a rule, I like full compositions (and interesting/dynamic composition ideas) rather than a single thing on a white background, but that depends on the idea, I suppose. But, really - I love getting art, so those are just pointers; you can hardly go wrong. I'd be excited both for sketches and full pieces, so if inspiration strikes you in regards to any of my fandoms, just go for it! This is such a rich, multi-layered, interesting world! It really feels to me that the hard and beautiful story we’ve read in the book is just one of many, many more stories that have taken, or can take place there. You can hardly go wrong with choosing what to explore, I’m interested in everything, even if it had been ficced before – I need more.
We spend so much time in Karhide and Orgoreyn, but what about Sith, or Perunter? I’d love to hear about the other continents, what people’s lives there are like, what makes them culturally or politically different, and what makes them similar to the characters we’ve met. What kind of stories or myths do they tell? What are their problems? I’d be happy to meet your OCs.
I feel like TLHOD was a breath of fresh air when it was first written (well. it still is!), but reading it in 2020 I saw many unopened doors in regards to the sexual characteristics of the Gethenians. We know about Perverts stuck in one sex like Terrans, but what about, say, intersex people? Does it happen sometimes (why?). What about homosexuality, does it even have the right to function on this world, where biology seems to push people into opposite sexes when they’re close and at least one of them is in kemmer? Maybe it doesn’t always happen? What would Gethenians think about how Terrans can be homosexual or bisexual sometimes, seeing as they’re fluctuating between being sexless and heterosexual, themselves? How would they react to a trans person visiting Gethen, or a nonbinary one? Also: I was annoyed by how the male pronouns were the default for Gethenians in the edition I’ve read, so feel free to use any other pronouns you’d like, or experiment with different ones.
Finally, I’m interested in things that are more close to the canon: what if Therem didn't die, could the story develop in such a way? What was the rest of Genry’s life on Gethen like? And I’d love it if you could tell me more about the first Investigators, how they experienced Winter when they first arrived.
Oh, and I’m curious about religions on the planet, too, so any story about that (with some mystical elements?) would be great as well. As I said – you can hardly go wrong choosing what to focus on in this world.
