Not every story is pleasant. Not every story has a happy ending, and not all happy endings come without a dark and painful journey. And sometimes, those are the kinds of stories that we really, really want to read.
If you're one of the many people interested in either writing or receiving darkfic, then Crueltide is here to devour your soul the Yuletide-extra for you!

Why Crueltide?
Because darkfic isn't to everyone's taste. By making it easier to identify darkfic prompts and people open to receiving darkfic in yuletide, we can all indulge our preferences without placing undue pressure on our assigned writers or risking gifting unwelcome fics to our recipients. (And also: the name was the least cutesy of those being thrown around in 2014.)
What is darkfic?

I also had an idea for a darker sort of soulmate AU, where rather than ending up with someone you're compatible with the universe just randomly pairs you up with whoever, including actual monsters/killers/antichrists/generally terrible people. Unwanted telepathy/mind-sharing is very welcome with that soulmate prompt or with anything really (Michael and Flagg at least are both strong enough to prod into minds like that).
My requests this year just happen to fall into the theme of 'villainous religious figures': we have a cult leader, a devil-allegory, and an antichrist. Anything with cults, worship, devotion, and the general darker side of following a generally awful person religiously would be loved.

Castle Rock
Characters: Henry Deaver, The Kid (but worldbuilding fic also welcome)
Henry and the Kid being in weird fucked up scenarios together! Henry getting trapped in the Kid's world! Something where they have only each other, and their relationship is pretty fucked up (and also involves sex?). Us against the world. Spacetime fuckery in general, I want it! (Possibly with city council meetings.)

In canon, Michael has been blown up, tortured, brainwashed and drugged into attempting to kill his superior, all within the span of three years. That's got to leave a few demons, particularly ones that he's really not in a position where he can admit to them. PTSD? Nightmares? Perhaps some seriously unhealthy coping mechanisms? Caitlin's been through some things herself, including having a bomb strapped to her. I could easily see her picking up on there being something wrong with Michael. I'd love any sort of take on that, from a gen version up to and including kink (bondage, blood play, pain play?)
If that's not your thing, how about Michael and Caitlin having to rescue String and Dom, for a change, instead of the other way around? Or, some sort of fix-it fic for the way Michael is “transferred” and Caitlin simply disappears at the end of the third season? Any rating is fine.
